    Summary

    The purpose of the foundation is to support Christian based ministries that serve the spiritual, educational, and physical needs of people helping them come to know the love of Christ and live a dedicated Christian life. The Foundation believes their purpose as Christians is to do all we can to bring honor to God. We do this by loving God with our whole being, loving our neighbor as our self, striving to live a Christ-like life, and participating with God in growing His Kingdom on earth. To help accomplish this purpose, the Cora Foundation's vision is to:
    • Be a financial resource to Christian ministries that promote the expansion of Christ's Kingdom.
    • Support organizations and programs that emulate Christ's ministry while he was on earth: to preach the Good News, teach God's Word (make disciples) and heal the afflicted.
    • Continue to grow the capacity of the foundation to fund organizations by being good stewards of our financial resources.
    The Cora Foundation provides support nationally for three primary program areas to invited and qualifying nonprofit organizations. However, the Foundation is flexible and does consider exceptions based on the merits and potential impact of a specific project. The three program areas that will be considered for grants are:
    • Education Program: The Education Program seeks to strengthen education at the K-12 level. The goals of this program area are to help reduce private Christian education costs, increase the quality of Christian education, and make a Christian education opportunity more affordable and accessible for a larger segment of the population. The foundation is interested in funding educational models and curriculum delivery methods that help achieve the program's goals.
    • Discipleship Program: The Discipleship Program seeks to strengthen the making and maturing of Christian disciples. The goals of this program area are to encourage non-Christians to become followers of Christ and to help Christians mature and deepen their commitment to live as disciples of Christ. The foundation is interested in funding missionary, Church expansion, and discipleship building models and methods that help achieve the program's goals.
    • Human Services Program: The Human Services Program seeks to strengthen the ability of Christian ministries to provide human/social services to individuals and families in need. Programs that enable people to increase their self-sufficiency and improve their capability to lead a Christian life are a priority for this program area. The goals of this program area are to help reduce the costs of providing human services, improve efficiency of delivery of human services, and make these services more available and accessible to people in need. The foundation is interested in funding human services delivery models, methods, and programs that are innovative, repeatable, and reproducible by church and para-church ministries, and programs that have an effective Christian discipleship component.

    The Foundation seeks to support programs that:
    • Support the mission of the Foundation: The Foundation is interested in programs and ministries that serve the spiritual, educational, and physical needs of people helping them come to know the love of Christ and live a dedicated Christian life.
    • Support the current program areas of the Foundation: The Foundation seeks to fund programs in the areas of Christian Education, Christian Discipleship, and Christian Human Services that address specific educational, spiritual or physical needs of individuals, families or groups.
    • Encourage and promote the Christian faith: The Foundation is interested in programs and ministries that seek to directly or indirectly encourage and promote the Christian faith and the leading of a Christian life.
    • Promote the growth and maturing of individuals: The Foundation is interested in programs and ministries that promote educational, physical and spiritual growth and maturity of individuals.
    • Have a significant and continuing impact: The Foundation is not interested in programs that are one-time events or that do not have a continuing impact on the individual or community. The foundation is interested in unique and innovative programs that are, or have the potential to be, repeatable and replicated on a larger scale.
    • Address causes not symptoms: The Foundation seeks to fund programs that address the causes of problems rather than simply masking their symptoms.
    • Increase the capacity or capability of the ministry: The Foundation seeks to fund programs that will allow ministries to move to the next level in their capacity and ability to serve their constituents.
    • Are good financial stewards: The Foundation seeks to support ministries that are financially stable, have a sustainable funding model, have a history of good financial stewardship and low administrative expenses.
    • Are respected and supported by the community: The Foundation is interested in programs and ministries that are highly respected in their communities and have the financial and volunteer support of the local community they serve.
    • Have a record of past success: The Foundation is not to be interested in ministries that have not demonstrated a history of past success in the programs they have undertaken. The Foundation is interested in funding expansions of unique and innovative programs, but only if the ministry behind them has a good record of successfully implementing programs and a clear vision and plan for program expansion.
    No fund requests of general operational support grants will be considered.

    Non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. 

    Deadline Details

    The application process is by invitation of the foundation's Directors only. The Cora Foundation does not accept unsolicited Letters of Inquiry (LOI) or Grant Applications. The foundation Directors initiate the application process based on their funding interests and research of ministries.

    Award Details

    The Foundation awards between $150,000 and $200,000 in grants each year. Awards will be divided evenly between the three program areas (1/3 to each program area). The Foundation will award one large grant ($40,000 to $60,000) and one or two smaller grants ($10,000-$20,000) in each of the program areas each year. Project lengths are up to four years.
