The purpose of the State Digital Equity Grant Program is to promote the achievement of digital equity, support digital inclusion activities, and build capacity for efforts by States relating to the adoption of broadband by residents of those States. Subgrants will be made in support of the State's Digital Equity Plan and digital inclusion activities in the State generally.
The State Digital Equity Planning Grant Program supports the creation of community-centric solutions. It provides resources to community organizations to help scale digital literacy programs. These programs give people the skills they need to effectively use the internet. We're looking for projects that promote meaningful adoption and use of high-speed internet service. Projects should aim to help the following groups:

These entities may provide sub-grants to the following sub-recipients:
Applications are to be submitted for the State Digital Equity Planning Grant program by July 12, 2022. The application date for State Digital Equity Capacity Grant Program is to be announced.
Up to $60 million is available in FY22 for State Planning Grants. Up to $240 million will be available in FY22 for State Capacity Grants. An additional $300 million will be available annually from FY 2023 to FY 2026.
States will be awarded Capacity Grants according to the following formula:
The amount of a grant awarded to an eligible State in a fiscal year shall be not less than 0.5 percent of the total amount made available to award grants to eligible States for that fiscal year.
With respect to a grant awarded to an eligible State under this subsection, the eligible State shall expend the grant funds during the 5-year period beginning on the date on which the eligible State is awarded the grant funds.
