    The Kennametal Foundation provides monetary grants to qualified organizations around the world in or near communities in which Kennametal facilities are located. These grants are focused on providing educational opportunities through our Technology Education Network (TechEdNet) program, as well as supporting volunteerism and community related issues through our Kennametal in the Community program. Grants made by the Foundation are an important part of our corporate commitment to support our employees and the communities in which they live and work.

    The Foundation focuses its giving in order to achieve a greater impact on those causes most aligned with Kennametal's corporate strategy. Two primary categories have been established for the Foundation giving:

    Kennametal Academic Program
    Includes the support of Post Secondary Educational opportunities with an emphasis on studies in the areas of technical engineering, machine skill training and materials and environmental sciences.

    Kennametal in the Community
    Focuses us on the importance of our employees' volunteering in the communities where they live and work. We encourage and recognize volunteerism as a key component of our culture and support organizations through monetary grants who offer volunteer opportunities for our team members.
    The Kennametal Foundation will provide support for organizations within the following fields of interest:
    • Education
    • Engineering
    • Higher education
    • Science
    • Secondary education
    • Undergraduate education
    • University education
    Projects serving the following populations are of special interest:

    The Kennametal Foundation has given a total of $454,751 in grants in 2015.

    The Kennametal Foundation was established in 1955 in Pennsylvania. Please contact the foundation to verify eligibility prior to submission of a full application. Funds may be used for the following purposes:

  • Eligibility Details

    Giving on a global basis in areas of company operations, with some emphasis on Pennsylvania and special interest in Westmoreland County. No grants to individuals.

    Deadline Details

    To be considered for funding, applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST on the last Friday in May. Initial approach should be with a completed proposal. If the foundation is interested in your proposal you will be contacted about submitting an application.

    Award Details

    Awards vary based on scope and size of project. Awards are up to $100,000. Scholarship awards are $2,000 a year for up to four years of undergraduate education.
