Giving primarily for the preservation of historic homes (1760-1860) which are open to the public and located in Kentucky or its contiguous states; giving also for homeless shelters and schools in Kentucky.
The Mildred V. Horn Foundation has funded 341 grants to 194 organizations totaling $5,388,400 over the past five years. Past awardees include: the Community Foundation of Louisville.
The Mildred V. Horn Foundation was established in 1988 in Kentucky. The foundation does not maintain a website. Please contact the foundation to verify eligibility prior to submission of a full application. Funds may be used for the following purposes:
Giving primarily is limited to non profit organizations in Kentucky (for homeless shelters and education) and historic homes (built between 1760-1860) open to the public in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Applications are to be submitted by December 31, annually. Initial approach should be with a letter of intent. Letters for requests under $5,000 should be 1-2 pages, letters for requests over $5,000 may require a 4 page form. Contact the funder directly for more information.
Awards vary based on scope and size of project. Awards are up to $1,000,000. Most grants are less than $25,000.
